Washing Machine Repair

A washing machine that's leaking, won't drain, won't fill, or won't spin brings laundry to a stop fast. Appliance Experts 365 repairs top-load and front-load washers from all major manufacturers across Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, and the Puget Sound, with same-day appointments available for most locations.

Our technicians diagnose the exact cause -- a pump, valve, belt, bearing, or control board -- before recommending a repair, and every job comes with an itemized quote you approve before we start.

Common Washer Repair Warning Signs

If any of these sound familiar, it's time to have a technician take a look.

Leaking Water

Water pooling under or around the washer during a cycle often traces to a hose connection, door boot, pump, or tub seal.

Not Draining

Standing water left in the tub after a cycle points to a clogged pump, blocked drain hose, or a control fault stopping the drain step.

Not Filling With Water

A washer that won't fill, or fills very slowly, is commonly a water inlet valve, supply line, or pressure switch issue.

Error Codes on Display

A flashing or displayed code narrows down the fault fast -- we read it, confirm the cause, and quote the fix before starting work.

Not Agitating

If the tub fills and drains normally but the clothes never move, the agitator assembly, drive belt, motor coupling, or transmission is the likely cause.

Not Washing Properly

Clothes coming out with detergent residue, tangled, or still dirty after a full cycle usually points to a fill, drain, or agitation problem rather than the machine as a whole.

How We Diagnose Washer Problems

We start by running the machine through its cycle to see exactly where it fails -- fill, wash, drain, or spin -- then test the specific component tied to that step: water inlet valve, pump, belt, door lock, or control board. Isolating the failing step first means we replace the part that's actually broken, not the first thing we happen to find.

Front-load and top-load washers fail differently -- front-loaders more often show door-boot, drain-pump, or bearing issues, while top-loaders more often show agitator, transmission, or lid-switch issues -- and our technicians carry parts and know-how for both.

What's Included in Every Service Visit

You'll get a written, itemized quote after diagnosis and before any repair work begins, and the diagnostic fee is credited toward an approved repair. Every technician is licensed and insured to work in Washington State, and completed repairs are backed by a parts-and-labor warranty.

Got Questions?

Washer Repair FAQs

Why is water standing in my washer after a cycle?

Standing water means the machine couldn't complete its drain step. The most common causes are a coin, sock, or lint clogging the drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or a failed drain pump motor. We clear the obstruction or swap the pump to get it draining again.

Why does my washer shake violently during the spin cycle?

Excessive shaking usually points to an off-center load, unlevel feet, worn tub suspension rods (on top-loaders), or failed shock absorbers or tub bearings (on front-loaders). We inspect the suspension components and replace worn parts before they damage the outer tub.

How much does washing machine repair cost?

Cost varies by the part needed and the labor involved. We don't quote blindly over the phone -- a technician diagnoses the issue on-site and gives you a written, itemized quote before starting work. The diagnostic fee applies toward the repair.

Is it worth repairing a washer that leaks from the bottom?

Usually yes -- bottom leaks are often caused by a loose hose clamp, a worn drain pump seal, or a torn door boot (on front-loaders), all of which are straightforward repairs relative to buying a new washer.

Why won't my top-load washer agitate?

If the washer fills and drains normally but the clothes stay still, the agitator dogs, drive belt, motor coupling, or shift actuator is likely worn or broken. These are mechanical wear parts that we stock and replace regularly.

Why does my front-load washer smell musty or sour?

Musty smells are caused by soap scum, hard water minerals, and trapped moisture accumulating behind the rubber door boot gasket or outer tub. We clean internal trap channels and replace damaged door boot bellows.

Why won't my washer door or lid open at the end of the wash cycle?

A locked door usually means the safety lock solenoid is stuck, or the machine still senses water in the tub via the pressure switch. We manually release the door lock mechanism and repair the faulty switch or drain pump.

Why is detergent remaining in the dispenser drawer after the cycle?

Unused detergent means water flow to the dispenser housing is restricted. This happens when water pressure is low, the dispenser spray nozzles are clogged with mineral deposits, or the water inlet valve actuator fails.

Can you service stacked laundry centers and commercial-grade washers (Speed Queen, Miele)?

Yes. We repair stacked washer/dryer units, compact laundry systems, and heavy-duty commercial-style washers from Speed Queen, Miele, and Bosch.

What causes a washing machine to fill with water very slowly?

Slow fill is almost always caused by clogged filter screens inside the water inlet valve, kinked inlet hoses, or mineral buildup inside the solenoid valve body.
